A credit report is a summary of facts about you and your credit.
Lenders use your credit report to determine whether or not they will lend you
money, and at what interest rate they will lend to you, so your credit report
is very important.
Most people do not realize the
importance of their credit report, and have no idea what it contains.
Your credit report contains:
personal identification
information, such as your name, birth date, current address, current employer,
and previous addresses and employers;
details of all credit inquiries
made about you over the past few years;
a list of debts with balances
owing, and whether or not they are current or past due; and
information
from public records, such as judgments and past bankruptcies.
